Whether this is your first time hiring a photographer or not, I think it is important that you know what you should expect from my sessions. I want to tell your story the way you deserve.

Firstly, you should now that I am here for you, all the way. My desire, my absolute intent is to help your family in any way you need to make sure we can have fun together in this journey, and at the same time create beautiful memories. I want you  relaxed and

What is documentary family photography?

In short, documentary family photography it's a photography style that captures real moments, real memories of you and your family just the way you are. It visually tells your story and creates beautiful and meaningful memories of a period of time in your lives. I will send you a questionnaire before we meet. After one first phone call or video-call, we will then meet a week before the day of your session, so we can get to know each other. This is a very important step as you have a unique story to tell and I want to capture your life the way you deserve.

I will be there to document your life, wether it's your pregnancy, the birth of your baby or your first day as a mother and a father. I will document your babies growing into toddlers, children and teenagers, and any important and special dates and family events. While Documentary Family Photography is a photography genre that documents the life of your family in a photojournalistic way, I am a creative that uses photographs to tell your story in my own artistic way.

HOW DOES IT ALL WORK if you want to book a session?

I am truly honoured that you are booking a session with me. I appreciate immensely your interest in my work.

First, you will send me an email ( click here ) ! Tell me what is the package you're interested in, and the date you want to book the session for... I will reply with dates, and price confirmation.

After we work out a suitable day and time for the shoot, and all has been agreed, I will then book you right in and we will sign the contract. A booking fee of 25% of the total amount of the package of your choice has to be made in order to secure your date.

After payment confirmation I will then proceed with my client workflow. We will talk on the phone (phone call or video call) so we can confirm the booking date, discuss further details and so that I can answer any questions you might have at this point.

We will meet a week before the session so we can get to know each other, go through a questionnaire that would kindly request

I will send you a digital client welcome guide, along with a questionnaire and a password to your private client area on my website. My client welcome guide will provide you with all the necessary information and relevant details that I would like you to know, so that you feel relaxed, comfortable and informed all the way.

A week before the session we will meet to get to know each other, to go through the questionnaire , and to finalise the booking process so that we are ready for the session day.

The day after your session you will receive a sneak peek so you can get a first impression and maybe share it on social media

2 weeks after you will have access to a password protected online photo gallery with all the digital high quality images.

After we decided which photos will to be used for printing, I will create your photo-book and you will receive both the prints and the book 4 weeks later.

Throughout this journey you will receive a series of emails before and after the session with additional information and reminders.

Furthermore, I am only one click away, and always available, in case you need my assistance at any point of our journey together.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE ARE RESTRICTIONS DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON THE DAY OF MY SESSION?

Nothing to worry about. I am always informed about all the restrictions that are taking place at the time of every session, and if we are not allowed to meet or you won't feel comfortable in having me around, even knowing that I would rigorously follow the Covid-19 safety guidelines (the use of protective mask, allowing social distancing, respecting the number of people from different households that can gather, washing hands, etc.) we will reschedule.

HOW LONG IS half a day of shooting and what should i expect?

My Half a Day in the Life Session (Gold Package) will take 6 hours of me happily hanging with you. Starting early or ending late is always better. Being able to photograph either while the kids are waking up and you all have breakfast together, or while you all have dinner and during bed time routines give me the opportunity of capturing beautiful moments.

You should expect to do the things you love, visit the places you like, and I will come along to document those moments for you. Furthermore, you should expect to spend the day as a family as you would normally do and simply enjoy yourselves, after all this is about the life of your family. Every moment is beautiful, if there’s happiness or sadness, a laugh or a cry, a fun moment or an awkward one, you will love your photographs, those are the important memories you want to keep and pass on through generations. I am there for you and your family all the way. I provide support before, during and after my sessions,  you should seat back, relax and enjoy.

My Day in the Life of Your Family Session (Platinum Package) will take 12 hours of me happily hanging with you. I will be documenting your life as it is during that period of 12 hours, from early morning when you get up, until late in the evening when your children go to sleep. Please contact me if you are thinking in something different and together we can make it work for you and your family.  I am open to suggestions and love changes, as long as I can deliver the best of my work and document your life the way you deserve.

You should expect to do the things you love, visit the places you like, and I will come along to document those moments for you. Furthermore, you should expect to spend the day as a family as you would normally do and simply enjoy yourselves, after all this is about the life of your family. Every moment is beautiful, if there’s happiness or sadness, a laugh or a cry, a fun moment or an awkward one, you will love your photographs, those are the important memories you want to keep and pass on through generations. WHAT Is THE BEST LOCATION FOR A FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?

Where are your favourite and especial places to spend time with your family?

Together we will decide on one or more places, that mean the most to your family, to hold the session. You will be able to include your preferred places for your session in a questionnaire that will be provided. Also, you will be able to mention any family activities you want on that day. My true and honest belief as a documentary photographer and artist is that the best things to do and the best places to go are the ones that make your family happy, proportionating a wonderful and joyful time.

Because these documentary photography sessions are very photojournalistic type, you can and should be anywhere you wanted to go. You can plan your day as you wish and I follow along ( I would love to travel with you if you want to go to a especial place, but please take into account that the more time you spend traveling less photographs and footage I get, and depending on the distance additional travel fees may be charged ). Anyway, you shouldn’t be worrying about type of thing as together we will come up with the perfect plan for your family photo session so you can have a great time and I can provide you with beautiful memories. Because your session is approached in a photojournalistic way, I will be documenting your day and your family will get photographed both indoors and outdoors, wether at home, or at the park, running, and playing sports, or calmly having a pic-nic in locations that are either special to you, or that you visit on a regular basis. Together, we will discuss and find the perfect combination to create both real and meaningful memories that matter to you, and a wonderful experience.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE MY HOUSE FOR AN INDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?

Truth to be told, you don’t really need any preparation for your documentary family photography session. I document what I see as it happens. If your home is not tidy and your children not in a good mood, I will be there to document that. These are the moments to be kept as memories , they are a part of life and my intent is to document your real life and your real moments.

It is my understanding,  that many families want to look their best when there are photos to be taken. So, if that is what you want, it is absolutely fine if you want to clean up your home or dress however you’d like. This is your story and these are your memories. I am there to capture your life without interfering.

Documentary family photography it is all about creating memories of everyday activities. Your family morning routines, taking the kids to school, walking the dog, drawing, cooking, painting are just some examples of the daily activities that can be beautifully documented through photographs and video.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR A  DOCUMENTARY FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?

In short, all you need is to feel comfortable and happy with what you're wearing. My greatest recommendation is to avoid logos and slogans, and neon colours as they can be very distracting and dominating in photographs. Also, neon colours can reflect light back onto your skin.

Now, the long version. Anything and everything goes when it comes to documentary photography, so you can wear you favourite clothes while I photograph you. However, I can give you a few simple suggestions:

As I mention before, be comfortable. This is probably the most important thing, and the reason for that is that it will show in your photos, truly. Now, I know that with documentary photography we are supposed to ask you not to mach clothes, as that is not real life. I rather say , you should do what you normally do, and if you match your kids clothing, or you want to face this day as an event to dress up for, so be it. I have friends that match everyone's clothes and they like to be visually appealing when they’re out and about. Real life is what you like, and what you often do, so if matching clothes is something you do in real life and that's what makes you happy and comfortable, I say do it. On the other hand, there are kids that love to go around and about naked, half naked, or even just wearing underwear. I am not phased at all but I will, however, be discrete with the photos I take, and would never share any without your permission. Your privacy is always respected. These are your photographs. You should be you. I

f you would like to be a little more prepared, then pick outfits that will allow you to be yourself and feel like yourself. I would say, dress nice, but don’t get so “dressed up” that you are uncomfortable. Wear what makes you feel better about yourself. You can just get dressed on the day the same way you would usually dress, and that’s it. How much more stress-free can it be? Remember, the photographs from the session are yours to enjoy. Let your clothes reflect your family’s personality, your interactions and the family bond is the real focus of the photographic session.

WHAT TIME OF THE DAY WILL YOU BOOK YOUR PHOTOSHOOT?

That would depend on the package you are booked for really (3hours/6hours/12hours). Also, both the starting and ending time of the session will be discussed on the first meeting during our introductory conversation, and obviously over a tasty coffee. While I let you decide the period of the day the photoshoot happens, I will have suggestions for you depending on what kind of documentary photoshoot we are going for. It can be a normal family session, it might be a newborn session, a birthday session, other important events, a pregnancy session, or a maternity session. Every case can be somewhat different, but all sessions are equally well documented no matter the time of the day. I'd like to work with you to make sure you get the best of your photo-session.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME FOR A MATERNITY OR NEWBORN SESSION?

Maternity shoots are best taken at the 30-36 week mark, for your comfort, mobility and a those beautiful bumps shots. For newborn sessions, I love photographing them at their most squishy, around the 1-2 week mark but you can schedule a session up to the 6-8 weeks of age, or when you feel comfortable with yourself, and the baby. Please, make sure you book your newborn session while you are still pregnant so you can guarantee an available slot for when the time comes.

WHAT IF ONE OF US IS SICK?

We reschedule!! without a doubt... just let me know 24 hours before the session.

I get it! I really do! you need not to worry! I’m good at mood changing techniques! The most important thing is to relax and go with the flow... I’ve got time... I'll play with the kids, I'll get down to their level and be real.  I’m a Father of two and a Partner, I understand....I want you to feel no pressure to perform (this is not what I’m about, this is not the session I want to shoot) let’s all be real... whatever mood we are in :)

WHAT IF MY CHILDREN ARE HAVING A BAD DAY?

I am a father to two little ones so don't worry, I know kids have bad days. Also, bad moods and less fortunate moments create beautiful moody and dramatic photographs. These sessions are fun and we have plenty of time to make it all work. We get together to have a good time. Your job is to relax and snuggle up to your family. I never rush the start of a session, and I always take some time before I pull out my camera. I want your children to feel comfortable and will get to know them a little before we start.

DO YOU SERVE MY AREA?

I’m based in Brisbane, and I cover Brisbane and The Gold Coast areas, but I love to explore! I can also travel. Basically, I love to go where it matters to you; homes, beaches, the bush, pretty parks, fields, and farms (driving long distances will add a travel fee to the total of the package of your choice).

HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION?

Your documentary family photography session is confirmed as soon as you’ve paid the deposit and completed the session agreement. From there, I will send you my client welcome guide and we will chat to work out the details including locations, clothing, meals, etc...

CAN WE have EXTRA FAMILY MEMBERS OR FRIENDS ALONG during THE PHOTOSHOOT?

That is a definite yes. I'm there to document your day, your life, this is your story. What that means is that whatever you do, wherever you go, and whoever you see or invite to your house on that day will be part of your memories.

WE WANT TO BOOK FOR A DAY IN THE LIFE PHOTOSHOOT BUT OUR LIFE IS QUITE BORING, WHAT CAN WE DO?

That couldn't be further from the truth. An ordinary day in any family's life is filled of little moments that are worth remembering. Beautiful and meaningful moments that most of us generally disregard. The goal of a documentary family photography session is exactly to remind you how beautiful your life is and capture your story so you can hold on to memories than you can visit and pass on through generations.

In saying that, you can always organise several activities throughout the day:

Cooking, Painting, Play at the playground/park, Gardening, Play Hide and Seek, etc..

Every activity time should be fun and mostly enjoyable, so I recommend that you pick the activities that you enjoy the most.

I HAVE FAMILY OVERSEAS/INTERSTATE . . . CAN WE SHARE THE PHOTOS WITH THEM?

Absolutely! Your private online gallery will be live online 2 weeks after your session, and available for 30 days. You are more than welcome to share it with your family and friends. If your family then has any requests or would like to order any prints or other products, they can contact me directly via email, my contact form, or they can simply order online.

WE WOULD LIKE TO CREATE A PHOTO WALL, CAN YOU HELP?

Yes! 100%! I suggest we schedule an in home consultation ( is part of your package), on the day your photo gallery goes live and together we can go through the vast number of printing possibilities and products available. Otherwise, if you don't want to have an in home consultation, you can take a photo of the wall that you have in mind and take down the measurements. I can help put designs together for you using software that will show you exactly what your photographs will look like on your own wall.

DO YOU PROVIDE RAW FILES?

No, I do not provide Raw files, for several reasons. I provide you with high quality jpeg images, ready for printing and sharing, which raw files are not.
